About the Role

As a Town Planner, you will:

  • Assess and determine development proposals following legislation and policies.
  • Provide expert guidance to the public, applicants, and internal teams.
  • Support junior planners through mentoring and training.
  • Improve planning strategies and compliance processes.
  • Address coastal development challenges while ensuring sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply planning legislation to development applications.
  • Investigate non-compliance issues and resolve disputes.
  • Represent the organization in discussions with public authorities, consultants, and communities.
  • Prepare clear reports and stakeholder communication.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related field.
  • Strong experience in development assessment and planning laws.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and corporate software.
  • A valid Class C driver’s license.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Local Government experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Interest in coastal planning and environmental management.
