Your Role as a Residential Care Officer

As a Residential Care Officer and Residential Care Officer Australia, you will play a vital role in supporting residents with their daily living, emotional well-being, and social integration. Your responsibilities will involve assisting residents in group homes, their personal homes, and community activities to enhance their overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support residents with mental health, social, and emotional needs.

  • Monitor and report daily activities of residents.
  • Facilitate connections with family, community, and cultural activities.
  • Ensure a safe, therapeutic, and homelike environment.
  • Refer residents to agencies for additional support and resources.
  • Assist in budget management and funding allocation.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of resident activities and progress.
  • Provide training to support workers on medical procedures and critical care management.
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare routines and prescribed treatments.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Community Services or equivalent qualification
  • 2+ years of industry experience in disability or mental health support
  • Nursing qualification (preferred for critical care support)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • First Aid & Manual Handling certification
  • Australian Driver’s License
  • Understanding of NDIS policies and procedures
