As a Nurse Unit Manager, you will lead and oversee the care team within your designated unit, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care while fostering a supportive workplace environment.
Responsibilities of an Aged Care Nurse Manager
- Resident Care: Delivering individualized, high-quality medical and personal care tailored to each resident’s needs
- Leadership & Supervision: Managing and guiding a team of healthcare professionals, including nurses and support staff
- Care Planning: Overseeing the creation and implementation of customized care plans to enhance residents’ well-being
- Medication Management: Ensuring proper administration and adherence to medication schedules and protocols
- Family Communication: Maintaining transparent communication with families, providing updates and involving them in care decisions
Key Skills for Aged Care Nurse Managers
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in aged care
- Strong understanding of Aged Care Accreditation Standards and ANNAC
- Expertise in medication administration, wound care, and clinical best practices
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to develop care plans, set goals, and document evaluations
